In 2003, Gibson, 26, won the first Tommy Tune Award for best leading actress for playing the title role in "Hello, Dolly!" at Stratford High School. Theatre Under the Stars, which sponsors the musical theater competition, has invited her back as a special presenter at the 10th annual Tommy Tune Awards coming Tuesday, April 17 at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Playing Laurie Beth in the national tour of "Happy Days" brought her through Houston, and hometown fans saw her appear on TV soap operas "All My Children," "As the World Turns" and "The Guiding Light." Stratford's Will Lynde is a best leading actor nominee for playing Will Rogers, and the show also was nominated for best direction, musical direction, scenic design, costume design, lighting design, ensemble/chorus and crew and technical execution. "Oklahoma!" at Memorial High School scored four nods, including best direction, orchestra, costume design and featured performer (David Comer as Jud Fry). In June, the lead acting winners will advance to the National High School Musical Theater Awards in New York City, where they will participate in rehearsals and master classes, receive one-on-one coaching from theater professionals and be seen by casting agents.
